HSBC Global Banking & Markets (GBM) is the institutional banking division of HSBC, one of the world's largest financial institutions. GBM provides tailored financial services and strategic advisory to corporate, institutional, and government clients worldwide.
Operating across over 50 countries, HSBC GBM offers a wide range of services, including:
- Global Markets: FX, rates, credit, equities, and commodities trading
- Global Banking: Lending, debt and equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions advisory
- Securities Services and Treasury Solutions
The division plays a central role in enabling the flow of capital, liquidity, and risk management solutions across global markets — making it a highly complex, data-intensive environment that demands robust, scalable, and user-centred digital tools.
About Evolve
HSBC Evolve is HSBC's award-winning electronic foreign exchange (e-FX) trading platform, designed to provide corporate and institutional clients with a smarter, faster, and more efficient trading experience.
Task
Following the successful delivery of my previous projects — FlexRate and FlexRate Reporting & Analytics — within HSBC Global Banking & Markets, I was assigned to the Evolve FX trading platform. I joined an existing team that included a Lead UX Designer and a Senior UX Designer from external consultancies. My role was to provide in-house expertise, helping to reduce reliance on external consultants and drive down associated costs.
